A guide to child sponsorship - your questions answered

How is the school selected for my sponsored child to attend?

A typical Nepalese villageOur Founder and Field Officers spend a lot of time viewing and selecting schools. In order not to have any detrimental impact on the community, or on the child themselves, we always encourage the use of local schools. Our aim is not to remove children from the family or community to which they belong. We want to help them gain an education not loose their identity.

Schools are therefore selected to ensure the children attend according to their cultural and religious background (of which there are many in Nepal) and in a location near to their home.

CHANCE Officers discuss new admissions with the Principals to ensure the school is the right “fit” for our children and once selected visit the schools on a regular basis to maintain a strong relationship and keep informed of the children’s progress. In some cases where local schools do not exist we identify needs for services to be provided to certain communities and work with other organisations and use donations to support these rural development projects.
