A guide to keeping in touch
How do I write to my sponsored child?
We really encourage correspondence between you and your sponsored
child.
You can send cards and letters to your sponsored child at the
Charity Head Office. Correspondence is collated and forwarded
to the Field Officer responsible for the relationship with your
sponsored child. Our Field Officers will translate your letters
into your child's language and pass on both your letter and the
translation. This process allows us to keep a correspondence file
up to date, and ensures your name and address does not fall into
the hands of professional beggars.
Letters written by your child to you will follow the same process.
Children are encouraged to demonstrate their privileged education
and correspond in English. However, when their English skills
do not allow them to express as they wish they may write to you
in their mother tongue. These letters will be translated by the
field officers. In these cases you will then receive the original
and the translation.
What about visiting my sponsored child?
Visiting Nepal and meeting your sponsored child is an exciting
and rewarding prospect.
CHANCE volunteers in Nepal and here in the UK will do all they
can to help you prepare for and arrange your visit. With our help
it will be a very rewarding experience.

Can I send packages to my sponsored child?
We
understand that you may wish to send a gift to your sponsored
child. If this is the case we encourage the gift to be something
essential for the child such as clothing, books or developmental
toys. Often, many items are discarded by your own family, and
we suggest you consider donating these items to needy children
of Nepal.
You can either donate these for the Field Officers to distribute
to those who would benefit most, or you can request them to be
received by your sponsored child.
Should you wish to send items to your child specifically we suggest
you contact us so we can ask the Field Officer to advise what
the child is most in need of.
Items should then be sent to the Head Office. Due to large duty
charges and an unreliable postal service we save these items to
be taken out to Nepal on annual visits. We therefore request your
understanding and patience.
Alternatively, a small token is often just as pleasing to receive,
and our children and their families like to receive photos of
you and postcards from where you live.
